VinUniversity (VinUni) is recruiting a full-time postdoctoral researcher in the Center for Materials Innovation and Technology (CMIT), based in Hanoi, Vietnam. The position sits within a research-intensive environment focused on advanced materials, sustainable technologies, AI-enabled discovery, and interdisciplinary innovation.
Research focus: advanced soft materials for next-generation soft robotic systems. The project involves designing, synthesizing, and integrating functional materials such as elastomers, hydrogels, liquid crystal elastomers, and conductive composites into adaptive structures for complex actuation, sensing, and environmental responsiveness.
Relevant study areas and methods: materials science, robotics, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemistry, and computer science. The post also welcomes expertise in computational materials modeling (DFT, molecular dynamics, phase-field modeling, multiscale simulations), data-driven materials discovery, AI/ML methods (neural networks, graph neural networks, generative AI, active learning), theory-experiment integration, and high-performance computing.
Responsibilities: develop and characterize soft materials; design and fabricate soft robotic components using molding, 3D printing, and microfabrication; evaluate mechanical, electrical, and stimuli-responsive properties; integrate materials into functional soft robotic systems; analyze data; contribute to proposals and external funding efforts; and co-mentor students.
