About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher in Medical Physics: Photon-Counting CT for Proton Therapy at Aarhus University / Danish Centre for Particle Therapy (DCPT), Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark.

This 3-year full-time postdoc is focused on photon-counting computed tomography (CT) for radiotherapy treatment planning, including proton therapy. Research themes include developing new visualization strategies for delineation, applying deep learning to improve photon-counting CT images, improving radiotherapy dose calculation through advanced image processing, and exploring virtual iodine contrast removal. The successful candidate will work in a highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment with medical physicists, radiation oncologists, imaging scientists, and clinicians at Denmark’s national centre for proton therapy.

Eligibility highlights: PhD-level qualifications in medical physics, physics, biomedical engineering, or computer science are required. The PhD topic must be relevant to CT imaging and radiotherapy. Experience with photon-counting CT is a strong advantage; deep learning knowledge is beneficial; CT image analysis skills are required; strong coding ability and publication experience are expected. Fluent English and good teamwork/interpersonal skills are also important.

Funding and terms: This is a salaried postdoc appointment under Danish academic salary agreements. The annual base salary is listed as DKK 493,394.35 to DKK 585,322.48 depending on experience after the MSc degree, plus pension and possible supplements. A special researcher tax scheme may apply for international recruits.
