About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher in neuro-immune mechanisms in arthritis at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden.
This postdoctoral position focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms by which inflammation affects the nervous system, with emphasis on pain, neuronal dysfunction, structural brain changes, and neuro-immune interactions. The project investigates acute and chronic pain, rheumatic pain and fatigue, immune-regulating therapies, and neurological mechanisms related to aging.
The work is based in the Department of Medicine, Solna, within the research group of adj professor Jon Lampa, with a related project led by assistant professor Caroline Wasén. The group is part of the Division of Rheumatology and is connected to the Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM), offering a strong environment in neuroscience, immunology, molecular biology, and rheumatology.
Typical duties include immunohistochemistry, tissue preparation, microscopy, quantitative image analysis, rodent behavioral testing, tissue collection, analysis of neuronal and glial alterations, and planning/documentation of experimental studies.
Eligibility requires a PhD in neuroscience, physiology, biomedicine, or a related field, plus documented immunohistochemistry experience, animal research experience, and FELASA certification or equivalent. Excellent English is required. Meritorious experience includes experimental neuroscience, pain models, advanced microscopy (e.g. confocal microscopy, ImageJ/Fiji), publications, presentations, and project management.
The position is a temporary full-time postdoctoral employment with monthly salary under KI collective agreements. Application documents must be submitted in English or Swedish through the Varbi recruitment system.
