About this position

A 12-month full-time postdoctoral position is available in the Natural Killer Cells and Anti-Tumour Immunity team at the Centre d’Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy (CIML) in Marseille, France.

The project is a translational study of Natural Killer (NK) cells and type 1 innate lymphoid cells (ILC1) in breast cancer, with a special focus on triple-negative breast cancer. The successful candidate will help characterize phenotypic, functional, and transcriptional changes in these innate lymphocyte populations across breast-cancer subtypes and disease stages, and will contribute to testing innovative NK-cell engager-based therapeutic strategies.

Research activities will include analysis of peripheral-blood and tumor samples from breast-cancer patients, multiparametric spectral flow cytometry, functional assays of NK-cell cytotoxicity and cytokine production, analysis of high-dimensional single-cell datasets, and participation in ex vivo tumor-slice and in vitro tumor-cell assays.

The position is based at CIML, an internationally recognized institute dedicated to fundamental and translational immunology, with access to state-of-the-art cytometry, genomics, imaging, molecular biology, and animal facilities. The appointment starts on 1 January 2027 and is a fixed-term, full-time postdoctoral contract in Marseille, France.

Eligibility highlights include a PhD in immunology, cancer biology, cellular biology, or a related discipline; expertise in human immunology and cancer immunology; and experience with flow cytometry, human immune-cell work, cytotoxicity and cytokine assays, clinical sample processing, single-cell RNA-seq analysis, and cancer-cell culture. Excellent English is required, and French at a good level is also listed.

Funding is provided through the position, with salary according to Inserm’s scale and experience. Additional employment benefits include mandatory collective health insurance and optional provident insurance contributions.

Applications should include a CV, a cover letter describing relevant research experience and motivation, and contact details for two referees. The deadline is 20 November 2026 at 12:00 (Europe/Paris).
