About this position

Postdoctoral researcher opportunity at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland, within the Center for Quantum Digital Organic Memristors project (CKCOM), carried out under the International Research Agendas (MAB FENG) programme and co-financed by the European Union.

The project aims to develop a new generation of molecular memory and logic elements based on proton quantum tunneling, with a long-term vision for energy-efficient memcomputing technologies that combine information processing and storage in single molecular systems. The research has potential relevance for nanoelectronics and AI-related systems.

The advertised postdoctoral role is embedded in Marek Grzybowski’s group and focuses on organic synthesis and characterization work. The selected researcher will synthesize intermediates and target functional dyes, purify products, and carry out full chemical, spectral, and photophysical characterization. The position also includes collaboration with MSc and PhD students, as well as contribution to reports and publications.

Eligibility is for candidates with a PhD in chemistry awarded no more than five years before the application deadline, or those who have already submitted a doctoral dissertation and can provide proof of the scheduled defense date. The post requires strong experience in synthetic organic chemistry, a solid background in organic chemistry, excellent English, and familiarity with NMR, MS, UV-Vis, and IR spectroscopy. Experience with polycyclic aromatic compounds, functional dyes, photophysics, independent research, team work, and student mentoring are advantageous.

Employment is full-time for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. The gross monthly salary is approximately PLN 11,800, and benefits include private medical care and co-financing of sports cards. The post is intended for a motivated researcher who wants to work in an internationally oriented team with access to advanced research infrastructure and opportunities for collaboration and conference participation.

Application deadline: 5 October 2026, 20:00 CEST. Applications should be emailed to [email protected] with the specified subject line and the required documents, including a signed consent form for personal data processing.
