About this position

Postdoctoral opportunity at the University of Luxembourg for research on participatory food governance, food democracy, and multi-stakeholder sustainability transitions. The project, PALATE (Participatory Actions for Lifestyle Adaptation & Transition Engagement), examines how participatory governance structures, food democracy initiatives, and collaboration among stakeholders can support sustainable food-system transformation in Luxembourg.

The role is based at Belval Campus within the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE). The postdoctoral researcher will conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including interviews, surveys, participant observation, document analysis, and comparative/conceptual analysis. The work also includes collaboration with Luxembourg’s Food Policy Council, public authorities, and other food-system stakeholders; facilitation of workshops and co-creation activities; analysis of governance mechanisms, policy frameworks, power dynamics, and participation of vulnerable groups; and support for a PhD candidate.

Academic background: PhD in Sociology, Cultural Anthropology, Political Sciences, History, and/or Geography in food studies or related areas. Strong experience in interdisciplinary research, project management, participatory action research, transdisciplinary research, stakeholder co-creation, and both qualitative and quantitative methods is expected. Knowledge of Luxembourg’s foodscape is explicitly required, and excellent English is necessary.
