About this position
Karolinska Institutet is recruiting 1-2 postdoctoral researchers for a project in precision medicine within rheumatoid arthritis (RA) at the Clinical Epidemiology Division, within the research group Chronic inflammatory Diseases in the Department of Medicine, Solna. The team works on the aetiology and management of chronic inflammatory joint diseases using register, clinical, genetic, serological and lifestyle data together with advanced computational models.
The postdoctoral researchers will contribute to projects focused on patient stratification and prediction models of clinical outcomes in RA. The work includes developing models for precision medicine using existing data collections, including genetic and proteomic data, and applying machine learning and advanced statistical modelling to improve disease outcomes. The research environment is highly interdisciplinary and includes clinical and translational RA researchers, senior researchers, statisticians, PhD students and postdocs.
Eligibility and profile: applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent degree by the employment decision. Experience with computationally intensive statistical methods, machine learning and deep learning is required, along with prior work on real-world medical or biological data. Programming skills in R, SAS and/or Python are required. Experience with GPU parallelization and Linux server environments is a strong merit, as are skills in individual-level genetic and/or proteomic data analysis, epidemiological studies, and prior work on rheumatological or other chronic inflammatory diseases. Strong communication skills, careful documentation, teamworking ability and fluency in English are also required.
