About this position

Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for a 2-year funded project on the impact evaluation of protected-area effectiveness across Southeast Asia.

The project sits at the intersection of biology, environmental science, statistics, and spatial conservation analysis. The successful candidate will work on evaluating conservation outcomes, likely using R, GIS, species distribution modelling, and large biodiversity datasets.

Required background: a PhD in ecology or conservation science, strong R and GIS skills, familiarity with species distribution modelling, and relevant publications.

Preferred experience: impact evaluation methods, large biodiversity datasets such as GBIF and citizen-science data, and knowledge of Southeast Asian biodiversity and conservation priorities.

Flexible consideration: exceptionally qualified applicants who are close to completing a PhD, or applicants with a Master's degree and strong analytical/research experience, may also be considered.
