About this position
Postdoctoral Researcher in Proteomics and Parkinson's Disease Biology at the University of Dundee (Faculty of Life Sciences, MRC PPU).
This fixed-term, 36-month postdoctoral opening is part of an ambitious international research programme funded by Aligning Science Across Parkinson's (ASAP). The project sits at the interface of cell biology, neuroscience, quantitative proteomics, mass spectrometry, and biochemistry, with a focus on how major genetic causes of Parkinson's disease remodel the lysosomal system, identify biomarkers, and reveal therapeutic opportunities.
The successful candidate will lead the proteomics component of the programme, using advanced experimental workflows such as organelle isolation, PTM analysis, high-throughput approaches, and single-cell methods where appropriate. The role also involves data generation, reproducibility, open science, manuscript preparation, grant writing support, and collaboration with multidisciplinary academic, clinical, and industry partners.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD (or near completion) in a relevant discipline; a strong academic record with at least one first-author publication or preprint; and expertise in two or more of the following: quantitative mass spectrometry/computational proteomics, biochemistry with interest in signal transduction and/or translational research, Orbitrap and/or timsTOF instrumentation, and proteomics data analysis using Python or R.
Funding and terms: salary £37,694-£46,049 per annum (Grade 7), fixed term for 36 months.
Application deadline: Friday, 11 September 2026, 23:59.
Apply via the external candidate portal linked on the job page. Internal University of Dundee staff should apply through OneUniversity.
