About this position
University of Dundee is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scientist to join Dr Kirby Swatek in the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit (MRC PPU), Faculty of Life Sciences. The project focuses on ubiquitin-like signalling in the immune system, especially the role of ISG15 modifications in the innate immune response and antiviral signalling.
The successful candidate will study the cellular machinery that writes and reads ISG15 modifications, using biochemical, cell biology, tissue culture, and proteomic approaches. The lab offers access to new tools, state-of-the-art equipment, and opportunities to collaborate within and beyond the MRC PPU.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should have a PhD (or be within six months of completion), a strong academic record, experience in tissue culture and proteomics, and ideally a background in immune signaling and ubiquitin biology. The role includes mentoring undergraduates and PhD students, presenting at meetings and conferences, and writing manuscripts.
This is a fixed-term postdoctoral appointment for 2 years, with salary £37,694–£44,746 per annum. The closing date is 3 September 2026 at 23:59. For informal enquiries, contact Dr Kirby Swatek at [email protected].
