About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher in Radiochemistry at the Institut Pluridisciplinaire Hubert Curien (IPHC), CNRS, University of Strasbourg, France.

This postdoctoral opening focuses on the radiolysis of water and the irradiation of biomolecules (amino acids, peptides, proteins) under accelerated ion beams. The project studies how high-energy ion fragmentation affects the production of reactive species in water and the degradation of biomolecules, with strong links to radiochemistry, physics, biomolecule chemistry, and radiobiology.

The selected researcher will design and run irradiation campaigns using carbon and helium ion beams at CNAO (Pavia, Italy), HIMAC (Chiba, Japan), and the Arronax cyclotron (Nantes). The role also includes measuring radiolytic yields, studying biomolecule degradation, implementing analytical methods such as UV-visible spectroscopy, HPLC-DAD-CAD-fluorescence, analyzing data with Monte Carlo simulations, writing papers, presenting at conferences, and contributing to supervision of Master’s and PhD students.

Eligibility highlights: PhD or equivalent, ideally in physical chemistry or radiation chemistry; strong analytical chemistry skills; experience in radiolysis or photolysis is a plus; English B2 required; basic French listed.

Funding and conditions: Temporary full-time contract, funded by ANR. The post offers staff restaurant access, partial transport reimbursement, teleworking up to one or two days per week for some activities, and training support.

Deadline: 30 October 2026, 23:59 UTC.

How to apply: Submit your application via the CNRS job portal. A Euraxess application page is also provided in the posting.
