About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher Position in spintronic sensor arrays, in-sensor computing, and bioelectromagnetic sensing at the University of South Florida (Department of Physics, Tampa, Florida, USA).

The Nanomagnetic Biosensors & Devices Lab led by Dr. Kai Wu is recruiting two immediate postdoctoral researchers. The project focuses on developing large-array spintronic sensor platforms for in-sensor computing, with potential applications in neural cell imaging, magnetic biosensing, cell-based measurements, and bioelectromagnetic sensing.

Research areas include spintronic sensors, magnetic sensors, magnetic thin films, micro/nanofabrication, low-noise measurements, transport and magnetic characterization, sensor arrays, CMOS-compatible integration, neuromorphic computing, and ML-assisted hardware. The role also involves preparing manuscripts, conference presentations, proposals, and mentoring graduate/undergraduate students.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, materials science, applied physics, nanotechnology, or a closely related field. Preferred experience includes spintronic devices, GMR sensors, MTJs, spin valves, cleanroom fabrication, device patterning, electrical/magnetic characterization, and biomedical sensing applications.

The position starts on or after September 1, 2026. Interested candidates should email a CV, representative publications, and contact information for 2–3 references to [email protected]. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to submit a formal application through the official USF hiring system.

This is a research staff opening rather than a scholarship. No funding details were specified in the post.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
