PhD openings in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Nanotechnology at University of South Florida
PhD student openings at the University of South Florida
in the Nanomagnetic Biosensors & Devices Lab led by
Dr. Kai Wu
in the Department of Physics.
The lab is recruiting
3 PhD students
for
Fall 2026
and
Spring 2027
. The research is highly interdisciplinary and sits at the intersection of
physics
,
materials science
,
electrical engineering
,
biomedical engineering
,
nanotechnology
, and AI-enabled healthcare technologies.
Research themes include
magnetic nanomaterials
,
spintronic devices
,
biosensors
,
biomedical imaging
,
wearable sensing
,
micro/nanofabrication
,
in-sensor computing
, and
edge AI
for healthcare applications. The lab also highlights work on magnetic particle imaging (MPI), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and intelligent sensing systems for disease diagnosis and treatment.
Preferred applicants have backgrounds in physics, materials science, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, nanotechnology, or related fields. Prior experience in magnetic materials, spintronics, biosensing, imaging, wearable devices, fabrication, machine learning, edge AI, or data analysis is welcome, though not strictly required. Students with relevant publications are especially encouraged to apply.
Interested applicants should email
[email protected]
with a CV, unofficial transcripts, a brief statement of research interests, and representative publications if available. The post directs prospective students to apply to the
Spring/Fall 2027 PhD program
in the Department of Physics at USF.
