About this position
Freie Universität Berlin is advertising a postdoctoral researcher position in the Institute of Pharmacy, in the division of pharmacology headed by Prof. Dr. Burkhard Kleuser. The project sits at the intersection of stem cell biology, vascular biology, pharmacology, and lipid biology, with a strong translational angle toward advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs).
The lab studies the molecular mechanisms of bioactive lipid molecules in vascular, inflammatory, and oncological diseases. The current research program focuses on the development of functional vasculature from stem cells. The successful candidate will work with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and mesenchymal stem cells, performing fundamental cellular analyses such as protein, gene, and surface marker analyses, as well as lipid profiling of isolated and differentiated cells. The position is embedded in the collaborative Berlin University Alliance and offers access to state-of-the-art core facilities and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should have a completed university degree in the natural sciences and a PhD in regenerative biology or a closely related field. Strong training in molecular, cellular, and/or stem cell research is expected, along with a solid publication record, critical thinking, and the ability to work productively with diverse colleagues. Fluent English is required; experience in experimental design and execution is desirable, and the role is not suitable for purely computational scientists.
Funding and contract: this is a full-time research assistant postdoc role with salary grade Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L FU, limited until 30 April 2028.
How to apply: send a single PDF by email to [email protected] with a cover letter, CV, transcripts, proof of English proficiency, abstracts of your Bachelor's, Master's, and doctoral theses, and contact details of two referees. Please include the reference code AGKleuser/Postdoc/26. The application deadline is 27 October 2026.
