About this position

Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for an OPUS project funded by the National Science Center (NCN) in the Laboratory of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Biology.

The project investigates changes in pancreatic organoids derived from patients with type 2 diabetes using multi-omics approaches. The successful candidate will work with state-of-the-art methods including differentiation of human stem cells into pancreatic beta cells, organoid production, advanced genome editing during differentiation, single-cell RNA sequencing, proteomics, lipidomics, functional assays, and microscopic imaging. The lab notes that not every technique must already be mastered, because the project is collaborative and offers opportunities to learn new methods.

The work is connected to translational research aiming to support the development of cell and gene therapies for diabetes. The project will be conducted in close collaboration with the team of Prof. Małgorzata Borowiak at Adam Mickiewicz University and with two teams at the University of Helsinki, with the possibility of short-term internships. The research group is described as young, dynamic, and collaborative, with an emphasis on cooperation, development, and mutual respect.

Funding and contract: the position is a fixed-term, full-time postdoctoral contract, initially for 6 months, with possible extension depending on performance until 13 February 2029. The gross monthly salary is PLN 8987.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, or biochemistry is required, but the doctorate need only be completed by the time the contract is signed. Applicants should have hands-on experience in multi-omics analyses, a publication record, and strong motivation. Experience in stem cell differentiation, pancreatic physiology, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, or single-cell RNA sequencing is an advantage. Fluent English is required.

Application deadline: 20 November 2026 at 23:59 (Africa/Abidjan). The post will remain open until a suitable candidate is found, but applications should be submitted by the stated deadline. Apply by email to Prof. Maciej Łałowski with the required documents, including an application letter addressed to the Vice-Rector, CV, diplomas or certificates, and information on research, teaching, and organizational achievements.
