Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań

Senior Postdoctoral Researcher/Bioinformatician in Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine

The Department of Gene Expression at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań is seeking a highly motivated senior postdoctoral researcher or bioinformatician to join the Laboratory of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine. This position is part of the prestigious TEAM-NET project, funded by the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP), and focuses on investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying the expansion and function of human insulin-producing beta cells. The research aims to advance cellular and gene therapies for diabetes. The successful candidate will work with cutting-edge methodologies, including the culture and differentiation of human stem cells into pancreatic beta cells, creation of pancreatic organoids, advanced genome editing (expression inhibition/activation), high-throughput screening, single-cell RNA sequencing (including Perturb-seq), functional assays of beta cells, advanced microscopy, and flow cytometry with imaging. While mastery of all these techniques is not required, the project offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and skill development, particularly in bioinformatics and data analysis. The project is conducted in collaboration with leading teams at the University of Warsaw (microfluidics, Dr. T. Kamiński) and Jagiellonian University (endothelial cell biology, Prof. J. Dulak). The laboratory is located at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University, a top research institution in Poland. The team is young, dynamic, and values collaboration, professional growth, and mutual respect. Funding and Employment: The position offers a gross monthly salary of approximately 11,540 PLN (about 9,637.55 PLN net) for half-time (20 hours/week), with the possibility of full-time employment. The initial contract is for 6 months, with potential extension up to March 2028 based on performance. The position is funded by the FNP TEAM-NET program. Eligibility and Requirements: Applicants must have a PhD in biological, chemical, or related sciences, with documented research experience in molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, biochemistry, or medical sciences, and at least one postdoctoral appointment. Experience in high-throughput data analysis (e.g., RNA-seq), biostatistics, and proficiency in English are required. A strong publication record, including at least one first-author publication, is expected. Experience with R, Seurat, or transcriptomic data analysis is highly desirable. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria of the TEAM-NET, FNP competition and comply with Polish higher education law. Additional qualities include scientific curiosity, high motivation, reliability, independence, and teamwork skills. Benefits: The university offers a supportive and collaborative environment, flexible working hours, professional development opportunities, language courses, additional paid leave for education, life insurance, pension and investment programs, preferential loans, social benefits, and support for employees with disabilities. Application Process: Applications should be sent to Professor Małgorzata Borowiak at [email protected] and must include a cover letter, CV, degree certificates, a list of research, teaching, and organizational achievements, two reference letters (at least one from a direct supervisor), and any other documents required by the selection committee. The recruitment will continue until a suitable candidate is found, with online interviews for shortlisted applicants. Postdoctoral Researcher in the project UMO-2024/53/B/NZ4/03103

Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for an OPUS project funded by the National Science Center (NCN) in the Laboratory of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Faculty of Biology. The project investigates changes in pancreatic organoids derived from patients with type 2 diabetes using multi-omics approaches. The successful candidate will work with state-of-the-art methods including differentiation of human stem cells into pancreatic beta cells, organoid production, advanced genome editing during differentiation, single-cell RNA sequencing, proteomics, lipidomics, functional assays, and microscopic imaging. The lab notes that not every technique must already be mastered, because the project is collaborative and offers opportunities to learn new methods. The work is connected to translational research aiming to support the development of cell and gene therapies for diabetes . The project will be conducted in close collaboration with the team of Prof. Małgorzata Borowiak at Adam Mickiewicz University and with two teams at the University of Helsinki , with the possibility of short-term internships. The research group is described as young, dynamic, and collaborative, with an emphasis on cooperation, development, and mutual respect. Funding and contract: the position is a fixed-term, full-time postdoctoral contract, initially for 6 months, with possible extension depending on performance until 13 February 2029 . The gross monthly salary is PLN 8987 .
