About this position

The Transportation Research at McGill (TRAM) group in McGill University’s School of Urban Planning is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on a CIHR-funded project examining the impacts of the new Réseau express métropolitain (REM) light rail system in Montreal.

The postdoctoral researcher will work with Prof. Ahmed El-Geneidy and contribute to research on the intersection of transportation, health, public transportation, and health inequalities. The role includes leading research on a key project theme, designing and managing online surveys, data collection, analysis, and coordination with partner organizations. The researcher will also work with Montreal Mobility Survey data.

Research themes include public transportation, transport and health, social and physical determinants of health, and health inequalities. Responsibilities include literature reviews, developing subsequent waves of the Montreal Mobility Survey (MMS), analyzing health and transportation data related to the REM project, assisting in training and supervising student researchers, preparing academic publications and reports, and organizing meetings, training sessions, and public seminars.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD awarded in the past 5 years in urban planning, engineering, geography, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field; strong interest in transportation; experience in grant/report writing; quantitative data analysis with a publication record; experience with Canadian public transport projects; and proficiency in discrete choice and behavioral statistical modelling using R, microsimulation, and agent-based modeling. Excellent English communication, project management, and teamwork skills are required, along with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
