About this position
RIKEN is recruiting one Postdoctoral Researcher or Research & Development Scientist in the Accelerator Group at the RIKEN Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science, based at the Wako Campus in Saitama, Japan.
The position is centered on accelerator physics, radio-frequency (RF) technology, heavy-ion beam systems, and the development of a high-power solid-state amplifier for the Charge Stripping Ring (CSR) in the RIBF Upgrade Project. The successful candidate will also contribute to the operation, maintenance, and advancement of RIBF RF systems, including low-level RF control, RF cavities, and related subsystems.
Relevant study areas include physics, electrical engineering, control systems, communication/network engineering, and electron device/electronic equipment. The post is suitable for candidates with a Ph.D. in a related field, or those expected to complete the Ph.D. by the hiring date. For the postdoctoral track, the degree should normally have been earned within the last 5 years; the R&D Scientist track requires more than 5 years of research or practical experience.
Funding is employment-based rather than a scholarship: annual salary starts at about 4 million yen, with monthly pay at hiring of at least 382,610 JPY for Postdoctoral Researcher or 448,990 JPY for Research & Development Scientist, plus commuting and housing allowances and social insurance. The appointment is initially for one year and may be renewed based on evaluation, up to 5 years or 7 years depending on the track.
Applications are accepted online through the RIKEN recruiting website. The deadline is 2026-10-30 JST, and the expected start date is April 1, 2027 (negotiable).
