About this position
National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for the Agent AI Research Team in the Artificial Intelligence Research Center in Tokyo, Japan.
The position is part of the NEDO project “Development of Multimodal Platform Models for AI Robots and Physical AI” and focuses on multimodal AI agents, dialogue systems, human-centered AI, responsible AI, human-robot collaboration, multimodal learning, and hallucination suppression in large language models. The successful candidate will work on intelligent systems that interact with humans through images, video, language, structured data, and graphs, and on evaluation frameworks for safety, reliability, and consistency of AI outputs.
Research activities include development of multimodal agents/systems, analysis and reduction of misinformation and bias, collaborative research across disciplines, and publication/presentation at international conferences and academic journals in AI, machine learning, and NLP.
Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold or be expected to obtain a PhD; the PhD must have been obtained within the last 7 years at the time of hiring; applicants must have less than 5 years of employment experience in the same field; and they should have strong publication records in relevant peer-reviewed venues. Preferred skills include Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, RAG, LLM agents, prompt engineering, graph neural networks/embeddings, large dataset processing, and dialogue modeling.

What's required
