About this position

University of Turku is recruiting two postdoctoral researchers for the ERC-funded NATURETIME project in the Department of Biodiversity Sciences / BISONS Lab.

Position 1: Postdoctoral researcher in psychology — ideal for candidates with a PhD in psychology or a related field, especially time psychology or environmental psychology. The project studies how nature experiences influence human time perception and how time perception shapes pro-environmental and sustainable behaviour. Methods include virtual reality experiments, subjective time perception assessments, citizen science data, and behavioural experiments.

Position 2: Postdoctoral researcher in environmental geography — ideal for candidates with a PhD in geography, environmental science, landscape/spatial ecology, spatial land planning, or related areas. This role focuses on spatial analysis, spatial databases, spatial modelling, programming in Python/R, and potentially remote sensing, street-view image analysis, participatory mapping, and citizen science.

Both positions are full-time, initially for 24 months, with a possible extension of 33 months. The work is based in Turku, Finland, and the project is led by Assistant Professor Ricardo Henriques Correia. The salary is typically EUR 3,570–3,800/month depending on experience and skills.

Eligibility highlights: PhD required; strong data analysis and publication record expected; excellent English required; Finnish is desirable but not essential; teamwork, communication, and organizational skills are important.

Application deadline: 26 June 2026 at 16:00 (Europe/Helsinki).

How to apply: Submit your application via the University of Turku online recruitment system. Include a motivation letter, CV, research statement, publication list, degree certificate(s), and any other relevant documents.
