Postdoctoral Researcher Positions in Psychology and Environmental Geography (NATURETIME)
University of Turku is recruiting
two postdoctoral researchers
for the ERC-funded
NATURETIME
project in the Department of Biodiversity Sciences / BISONS Lab.
Position 1: Postdoctoral researcher in psychology
— ideal for candidates with a PhD in psychology or a related field, especially
time psychology
or
environmental psychology
. The project studies how nature experiences influence human time perception and how time perception shapes pro-environmental and sustainable behaviour. Methods include
virtual reality experiments
, subjective time perception assessments, citizen science data, and behavioural experiments.
Position 2: Postdoctoral researcher in environmental geography
— ideal for candidates with a PhD in geography, environmental science, landscape/spatial ecology, spatial land planning, or related areas. This role focuses on
spatial analysis
, spatial databases, spatial modelling, programming in
Python/R
, and potentially remote sensing, street-view image analysis, participatory mapping, and citizen science.
Both positions are full-time, initially for
24 months
, with a possible extension of
33 months
. The work is based in
Turku, Finland
, and the project is led by
Assistant Professor Ricardo Henriques Correia
. The salary is typically
EUR 3,570–3,800/month
depending on experience and skills.
Eligibility highlights:
PhD required; strong data analysis and publication record expected; excellent English required; Finnish is desirable but not essential; teamwork, communication, and organizational skills are important.
