About this position

The Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (HNRCA) at Tufts University is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Biology of Aging research group under the mentorship of Dr. Arpit Sharma.

This postdoctoral opening focuses on identifying organelle pathways that regulate longevity and healthy aging. Current projects include the role of peroxisomes in healthy aging and the role of lipid metabolism in aging, using C. elegans lifespan assays, cell culture, multi-omics analysis, pharmacological and dietary interventions, and high-resolution microscopy. The lab also explores how dietary lipids regulate organelle function and aging-related mechanisms.

The position is well suited to researchers interested in geroscience, nutrition, lipid metabolism, bioinformatics, microscopy, and mechanistic studies of aging. The environment is interdisciplinary and collaborative, with opportunities to work with scientists in informatics, biology of aging, and nutrition, and to contribute to first-author publications, fellowship submissions, and grant writing.

Eligibility highlights: a doctoral degree in a relevant field; experience in microscopy or quantitative data analysis; experience with multi-omics datasets; and either strong C. elegans skills or tissue-culture expertise. The team is willing to train candidates in C. elegans methods if they bring strong tissue-culture experience.

Funding: the posted salary is $67,500 per year. The role is based at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, and is listed as hybrid.

How to apply: submit your application through the Tufts careers portal. Use the main application link provided in the post. A referral link is also available.
