About this position

Postdoctoral Scholar in Dermatology at Pennsylvania State University (Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Dermatology).

The Hobbs Laboratory is seeking a full-time postdoctoral scholar to work on campus in Hershey, Pennsylvania, United States. The research focuses on epithelial cell stress responses, with a primary model system of skin keratinocytes. Projects investigate molecular mechanisms controlling epithelial survival, differentiation, cell adhesion, tissue repair, and disease development.

The position emphasizes advanced fluorescence and live-cell microscopy, quantitative imaging, cell and molecular biology, functional genomics, and drug-discovery/small-molecule screening. The successful candidate will design and run experiments, optimize assays, test compounds, analyze imaging and screening data, prepare manuscripts and presentations, and contribute to grant development and mentoring.

Required background: a PhD by the start date in biomedical sciences, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, cancer biology, dermatology, or a related field; strong experience in keratinocyte or epithelial biology; and solid skills in mammalian cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, quantitative image analysis, biochemical assays, and molecular biology. Experience with advanced microscopy, automated imaging, drug screening, 3D epithelial culture, primary cell culture, or mouse skin biology is desirable.

Funding: this is a full-time postdoctoral position with benefits; continuation depends on university need, performance, and/or funding availability. No stipend amount is listed.

How to apply: external applicants should use the Workday application link. Current Penn State employees and students must apply internally through Workday.
