Postdoctoral Scholar in Health Policy and Medicaid Evaluation at Virginia Commonwealth University
The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Public Health is recruiting a postdoctoral research fellow for the Office of Medicaid Evaluation (OME) on the MCV Main Campus in Richmond, Virginia, United States. The fellow will work closely with Dr. Andrew Barnes and other faculty/staff on research and evaluation projects focused on Medicaid policy in Virginia, including maternal and child health and substance use disorder treatment.
This postdoctoral opening is especially relevant for candidates with training in health policy, economics, health services research, public health, statistics, and related quantitative fields. The role includes study design, research project management, hypothesis development, statistical modeling, analysis of claims and survey data, conference presentations, manuscript writing, and support for grant/evaluation design.
Eligibility highlights: a Ph.D. or equivalent degree is required; expertise in econometrics, claims data analysis, survey data analysis, and Medicaid policy is required; experience coordinating or leading research projects is required; strong written and oral communication skills are required; a publication and presentation record is expected; and proficiency with SAS, Stata, R, or similar programming languages is essential. Preferred experience includes REDCap, human subjects protocols, grant applications, and work in interdisciplinary environments.

Ability to work independently and professionally within a research team is essential. Experience conducting econometric analysis using multiple programming languages such as SAS, Stata, and R is essential. Preferred qualifications include REDCap experience, comfort in a fast-paced interdisciplinary environment, interest in publications and grants, and experience writing human subjects protocols and grant applications.
