About this position
Stanford University is advertising an open postdoctoral position in the lab of Kaustubh Supekar (Clinical Associate Professor, Stanford University School of Medicine) for research at the intersection of neuroimaging, artificial intelligence, precision psychiatry, computational neuroscience, and multimodal data science.
The project is NIH-funded and focuses on autism and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. The lab integrates neuroimaging, clinical, cognitive, and molecular data to identify neurobiological patterns that can improve mechanistic understanding, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. Specific themes include biologically grounded subtypes of psychiatric disorders, neuroimaging-derived brain circuit fingerprints, transcriptomic signatures, and multimodal prognostic markers for psychosis in youth at clinical high risk.
Applicants should have a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in neuroscience, biomedical data science, computer science, psychology, psychiatry, statistics, engineering, applied mathematics, or a related field. Strong experience in machine/deep learning, AI, statistical or computational modeling, human neuroimaging analysis (fMRI, structural MRI, connectivity, brain circuit modeling), computational psychiatry, developmental psychopathology, large-scale multimodal datasets, explainable AI, predictive modeling, and programming in Python, R, or MATLAB is highly relevant. Strong quantitative skills, scholarly productivity, communication ability, and experience with reproducible research workflows are emphasized. Prior experience with autism, psychosis, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, or neurobiological datasets is desirable but not required.
Funding is provided through NIH grants, and the expected base salary follows Stanford’s required minimum for postdoctoral scholars (FY27 minimum: $79,056).
To apply, email a single PDF containing a brief cover letter, CV, contact information for three references, and up to three representative publications or preprints to [email protected] with the subject line Postdoctoral Scholar. The position is associated with Stanford’s Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the start date listed is 07/01/2026.
