About this position

IDIBGI-CERCA is inviting outstanding researchers worldwide to apply for a postdoctoral training opportunity in the Australia-Spain Network for Innovation and Research Excellence (AuSpire). This is a postdoctoral fellowship program focused on planetary wellbeing and industry-led research, hosted at the Nutrition, Eumetabolism and Health (NEH) research group in Girona, Spain.

The NEH group is a consolidated biomedical research team with a strong track record in obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic complications, gut microbiota, cognition, and metabolic health. The group has published extensively in high-impact journals and contributes to major collaborative projects, doctoral supervision, and translational research. The position is especially relevant for researchers interested in systems biology, metabolism, gut-brain axis research, and multimodal omics analysis.

The successful candidate will work with access to valuable human cohorts and advanced research infrastructure, including the IDIBGI Biobank, experimental molecular biology laboratories, a Drosophila fly facility, and the IDIBGI Ageing Program. These resources support research on clinical, biological, lifestyle, imaging, and omics data, offering a highly collaborative and data-rich environment for postdoctoral training.

Applicants should have a PhD in a quantitative or computational discipline such as bioinformatics, statistics, mathematics, data engineering, or biomedical engineering. Experience with large-scale omics datasets, multimodal integration, statistical programming in R, Python, or SQL, and methods such as machine learning and survival analysis is strongly valued. Advanced English is required, and Catalan and/or Spanish are desirable.

This is a full-time postdoctoral position in Spain. The deadline is 2026-09-07, and candidates are expected to begin in June 2026. Interested applicants should apply through the official IDIBGI application page and submit the required internal form.
