About this position

Postgraduate Associate opportunity at Yale School of Medicine, Department of Neurology

The Yale Center for Neuroinflammation and the Hafler lab are seeking a dedicated wet-lab researcher for a postgraduate associate position starting around January 2027. The work is based in the Department of Neurology at Yale School of Medicine and focuses on neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration, and the role of the immune system in neurological disorders, especially Parkinson’s disease, with additional relevance to multiple sclerosis and glioblastoma.

This is a hands-on translational research role in human immunology and translational neurology. The successful candidate will work with primary human immune cells and human blood/postmortem tissue samples, carrying out antigen and peptide stimulation experiments, cytokine analyses, immune cell phenotyping, flow cytometry, PBMC isolation, immune cell culture, PCR, and sample preparation for single-cell sequencing. The position also includes clinical sample coordination, patient consenting, laboratory organization, and opportunities to contribute to data analysis and scientific presentations.

Training and mentoring will be provided by Dr. David Hafler and senior lab member Nicole J. Corbin-Stein, along with other members of the Yale Center for Neuroinflammation. The role is designed to build strong foundational skills for future graduate or medical school applications.

Eligibility highlights: bachelor’s degree required; previous wet-lab experience, including qPCR, is expected. The appointment is one year with a possible one-year renewal, and the ideal candidate is someone seeking a two-year position.
