About this position

Predoctoral contract opportunity at Universitat Politècnica de València in the Cardiac Modeling Group Ci²B for the project Longitudinal Computational Models of Arrhythmia (LongCOR) (PID2025-169391OB-C41).

The project focuses on cardiac modeling, arrhythmia, computational modeling, and biomedical engineering. The selected candidate will develop cellular and 3D cardiac models with longitudinal features, incorporating age, sex, and comorbidities, and will simulate atrial and ventricular arrhythmias to study mechanisms and test personalized therapies.

Research methods include MRI/CT, ECG, clinical data, image processing, ODE/PDE-based modeling, and programming in MATLAB, Python, C++, or Fortran. The work also involves collaboration with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center on electromechanical models and aims to optimize ablation, resynchronization therapy, and drug effects in silico.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related numerically oriented field; experience in electrophysiological or mechanistic modeling is preferred; strong English communication skills are required.

Funding details
