About this position
Open PhD candidate / research assistant opportunity in quantum information theory, quantum optics, and atomic physics at the Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.
The successful candidate will join Janek Kolodynski’s Quantum Information and Inference (QI^2) group and work within the FIRST TEAM FENG project funded by the FNP Foundation for Polish Science. The research focus includes developing novel dynamical models, quantum feedback control, and signal processing methods such as Bayesian inference and machine learning for optically pumped magnetometers (OPMs) and optomechanical devices.
The role includes close international collaboration with the experimental group of Prof. Morgan Mitchell at ICFO in Barcelona and leads to defending a doctoral thesis in extramural mode.
Funding: full employment contract until late 2029, initial 24-month term with planned extension, competitive salary of about 11,000 PLN gross/month (around 7,000–7,500 PLN net), and private medical insurance.
Eligibility highlights: documented background and strong interest in quantum information theory, quantum optics, and/or atomic physics; numerical analysis/programming skills are an asset; English proficiency is mandatory.
