About this position

Research Associate in Mass Spectrometry and Steroid Metabolism at Imperial College London, Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Clinical Sciences, Hammersmith Campus (on site only), United Kingdom.

This is a full-time, fixed-term research position for 3 years with a salary of £50,733 - £59,484 per annum. The role sits in the Steroid and Metabolism Group headed by Prof. Wiebke Arlt and contributes to the NIHR-funded ACCelerate project.

The research focus is on mass spectrometry and its clinical and translational applications, especially steroid metabolism, steroid metabolome analysis, and human physiology/health. The group uses LC-MS (liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry), HPLC/UHPLC, and solution-state NMR to analyse serum, saliva, urine, cell culture supernatants, and samples from human cohorts and in vivo physiology studies.

Eligibility highlights: PhD in analytical chemistry; first-author publication(s) in a respected journal; extensive experience with biological and chemical sample preparation for LC-MS/HPLC/UHPLC and NMR; method development, validation, quantitation, and data analysis; and detailed troubleshooting knowledge of the Waters TQ/XS tandem mass spectrometry platform.

The post holder will conduct independent and original research, collaborate with internal and external partners, support postgraduate student supervision, present at conferences, publish manuscripts and review articles, and contribute to grant proposals.

How to apply: Submit an application through the Imperial College London recruitment portal using the provided apply link. The closing date is 29 October 2026, though the advert may close earlier if application volume is high.
