About this position

Trinity College Dublin is advertising a Research Fellow in Infant Cognitive Neuroscience (fMRI and NeuroAI) within the Cusack Lab at the Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience (TCIN) in Dublin, Ireland.

This is a temporary, full-time postdoctoral research position focused on infant cognitive neuroscience, fMRI, OPM-MEG, and NeuroAI. The project, InfantNeuroAI, aims to measure developing brain representations in infants, model developmental processes using AI-based computational models, improve neuroimaging methods for detecting disrupted function after neonatal brain injury, and explore more energy-efficient learning algorithms.

The successful candidate will work with Professor Rhodri Cusack and the team on the full research pipeline: setting up awake infant fMRI, experimental design, data acquisition, analysis, computational modelling, presenting results, and writing manuscripts. The lab is interdisciplinary, bringing together neuroscientists, cognitive scientists, neuroimagers, and AI engineers, and is housed in a major neuroscience institute with advanced facilities including a Siemens 3T Prisma MRI scanner, a CERCA OPM-MEG system, and an NVIDIA GPU cluster.

Eligibility: a PhD in psychology, developmental science, cognitive neuroscience, or a relevant field is essential. The post is appointed at Research Ireland Post Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale Level 2, with salary from €47,273 to €55,399.

Location: Trinity College Dublin, University of Dublin, College Green, Dublin 2, Ireland.

Deadline: 4 October 2026.
