About this position
University of Oxford is recruiting a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Biology within the Oxford Vaccine Group (OVG), Department of Paediatrics, in Oxford, United Kingdom.
The role sits in a multidisciplinary programme focused on computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, systems immunology, artificial intelligence, and analysis of complex clinical, immunological, and multi-omic datasets from vaccine studies and controlled human infection models (CHIMs). The postholder will lead a defined research area, develop original research questions, build reproducible analytical workflows, and contribute to statistical, predictive, and computational methods for understanding protection against infectious diseases and vaccine-induced immunity.
This is a full-time fixed-term post for 3 years initially, with the possibility of extension if external funding becomes available. The department highlights a strong research environment, collaboration with immunologists, clinicians, microbiologists, statisticians, data scientists, and AI specialists, and opportunities to contribute to publications, seminars, conferences, funding applications, and supervision of junior researchers.
Eligibility highlights: PhD/DPhil in computational biology, bioinformatics, biological sciences, statistics, mathematics, or a related field; substantial post-qualification research experience; strong publication record; proficiency in R and/or Python; experience with high-throughput or multi-omic data; and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Experience with vaccination or CHIM studies, single-cell and multi-omic integration, machine learning/AI, and HPC/cloud computing is advantageous.
How to apply: Submit an online application via the University of Oxford recruitment portal. Upload a CV and Supporting Statement, and make sure the Supporting Statement addresses each selection criterion in the job description. Applications close at 12:00 midday on 21 October 2026.
