I’m recruiting a # PhD student in my lab at UCL Computer Science , as part of the new UCL EPSRC Landscape Award programme (UELA). The project is titled “Understanding Cheetah Locomotion using Inverse Reinforcement Learning” (Project ID: 2531ac1468) and is a collaboration with long-time partners MathWorks . Excitingly, it involves a 3-month placement at MathWorks in Cambridge (UK), collaborating with their Reinforcement Learning and Control System toolbox teams. The project is co-supervised by Dimitrios Kanoulas ??
What You’ll Do
- Decode how cheetahs achieve their incredible speed and agility using inverse reinforcement learning
- Work with cutting-edge robotics, AI, and biomechanics research
- Translate insights into real-world robotics applications, testing on a quadruped robot
Why Apply
- UCL is consistently ranked as one of the top ten universities in the world (QS World University Rankings https://lnkd.in/dKUrUMVH )
- Opportunity to collaborate closely with MathWorks
- Publish in top venues and attend international conferences
- Provide new insights into biology using robotics
Who Can Apply
- Open to both Home and International fee status students (note that EPSRC caps the number of international candidates at 30%, so competition for these places is high)
