About this position
Digital Futures at KTH Royal Institute of Technology is inviting applications for up to ten postdoctoral fellowships in technologies for digital transformation. This is a mobility-oriented programme for early-career international researchers who want to move to a new institution and pursue their own research ideas in the Digital Futures environment.
The call is hosted within Digital Futures, a cross-disciplinary research centre that brings together KTH, Stockholm University, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, and several industry and public-sector partners. The programme sits at the intersection of digital technologies and major societal challenges, with research organised around four societal contexts: Smart Society, Digitalised Industry, Rich and Healthy Life, and Educational Transformation, and three scientific themes: Trust, Cooperation, and Learn.
Successful fellows will conduct research in a new group at a leading university or institute within this environment. Funding covers 2.4 million SEK toward salary costs for two years for each employed postdoc fellow, with funds transferred to the main supervisor responsible for the employment. In addition to salary support, fellows gain access to Digital Futures resources, partner networks, infrastructure and testbeds, events, and career-development and research-leadership support.
Eligibility is targeted at candidates who already hold a doctoral degree or who will complete the doctorate before the fellowship starts, expected between January 2027 and June 2027. The call welcomes international applicants from institutions worldwide. Each application must include one main supervisor and one co-supervisor, and both support letters must be uploaded at the mandatory pre-registration stage. The main supervisor must be a faculty member at KTH or Stockholm University and linked to Digital Futures; the co-supervisor must be affiliated with the eligible partner institutions or Digital Futures network.
Applications are submitted through the HotCRP system. Applicants must first complete pre-registration no later than two weeks before the full deadline and upload the project title, abstract, and both letters of support. The full application must include an abstract, a research proposal, CV, research statement, study certificates, and the PhD diploma or equivalent documentation. The application deadline is 2026-10-16 23:59 (Europe/Stockholm). Funding decisions are expected in December 2026.
For questions, the contact email is [email protected]. The call is based at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
