Postdoctoral Associate in AI for Conservation Genomics and Genome Annotation (Cornell / Rockefeller)

Postdoctoral opportunities are available at the intersection of AI, genomics, conservation genomics, biodiversity conservation, and genome annotation through the GAIA initiative (Genomic Artificial Intelligence Applications), a collaborative effort involving Cornell University , The Rockefeller University , Revive & Restore , and other partners, with support from the Bezos Earth Fund . The Cornell postdoctoral associate will work in the CELLestials Lab led by Dr. Ayshwarya Subramanian to develop Genera , a multimodal AI system that integrates large-scale genome assemblies and other biological data to assess extinction risk and generate actionable conservation and genetic rescue strategies. The role emphasizes building, training, and evaluating cutting-edge AI models and multi-agent systems for conservation genomics, with access to major datasets such as the Vertebrate Genomes Project and California Conservation Genomes Project. A second postdoctoral position is available at the Vertebrate Genome Laboratory at Rockefeller University , working with Erich Jarvis and Giulio Formenti to develop Jarvis , an AI tool for reference genome annotation and curation. Applicants should hold a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, and have strong experience in AI/ML , deep learning, Python, and genomic data analysis. Experience with sequence modeling and interpretable AI methods is preferred, along with motivation for genomics and/or biodiversity conservation and the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. The Cornell position is listed with a salary range of $63,480–$72,000 and is supported by the Bezos Earth Fund. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. The Cornell application is submitted via Academic Jobs Online ; the Rockefeller position has a separate application portal.
