PhD fellowship opportunity in personalised prevention for psychosis , focusing on how to move from predicting physical health risks to identifying which preventive treatments will help each person most. The project is supervised by Benjamin Perry (University of Birmingham) alongside Joie Ensor , Marco Bardus , and Amedeo Minichino , and is offered through the Wellcome-funded Midlands+ Mental Health & Neuroscience PhD Programme for Healthcare Professionals . Research themes include psychosis , cardiometabolic outcomes , health data science , causal modelling , clinical trials , and digital health . The project uses PsyMetRiC , a clinical prediction model for short-, medium-, and longer-term cardiometabolic outcomes in early intervention psychosis, as a platform to study more personalised prevention strategies. The successful fellow will build skills in large-scale health data science and causal modelling to estimate individual treatment benefits, contribute to a pilot clinical trial, and take part in co-design with patients and clinicians to improve communication of benefits, harms, and uncertainty. This opportunity is best suited to a healthcare professional with some background in health data science , epidemiology , or mixed methods , although additional training and support will be provided.
