Fully Funded PhD in Wastewater Asset Management at RMIT University

Two fully funded PhD opportunities are available at RMIT University in Australia, within wastewater asset management and the Water Effective Technologies and Tools (WETT) Research Centre . Project 1: Wastewater Pump Degradation Modelling focuses on developing predictive models that integrate operational, hydraulic, energy, maintenance, and historical asset data to forecast pump degradation, failure probability, and remaining useful life. The goal is to support proactive maintenance and asset renewal. Project 2: Choke Simulation in Wastewater Gravity Mains aims to build a hybrid simulation framework combining hydrodynamic modelling, blockage formation mechanisms, and machine learning to predict choke development and support risk-based maintenance of wastewater networks. The scholarship package includes $36,245/year tax-free for 3 years , with a possible 6-month extension , plus a tuition fee waiver and single health insurance for an international student. Applicants should have a background in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering , with modelling and data analysis experience . Prior relevant journal publications are preferred. Candidates must also satisfy RMIT PhD admission requirements , including English-language requirements (minimum 6.5). To apply, email your CV and a brief introduction to Biplob Pramanik and cc Anika Amir Mohana . Clearly state whether you are applying for Project 1 or Project 2 , and explain your relevant research/modelling experience and fit for the chosen project.
