PhD Scholarship Opportunity at Griffith University for research on building climate resilience with Pacific Island tourism destinations . The Griffith Institute for Tourism is inviting candidates for a full PhD scholarship on an Australian Research Council (ARC)-funded project. The project uses action research to investigate climate-resilient development for Pacific Island destinations, focusing on the interdependencies between the tourism sector, host communities, and ecological systems to develop adaptation strategies that strengthen resilience for Pacific Island nations. Academic interests/keywords: climate resilience, tourism, Pacific Island destinations, development studies, geography, social science, critical tourism studies, qualitative research methods, participatory research. Eligibility highlights: applicants must meet the university’s requirements, including completion of a Masters or Honours (Class 1) and an undergraduate degree. A background in Critical Tourism Studies, Geography, Social Science, or Development Studies is preferred, and experience with qualitative, participatory social science research methods is highly desirable. The scholarship is intended for full-time study in Brisbane , with strong preference for applicants from the Pacific.
