PhD Position in Macrocyclic Kinase Inhibitor Development at EPFL

PhD position available at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in Lausanne, Switzerland, in the group of Christian Heinis . The project is part of the European Doctoral Network ANA-KIN and focuses on macrocyclic kinase inhibitor development . The research will explore the discovery of macrocyclic inhibitors that target regulatory interfaces of disease-relevant kinases beyond the conserved ATP-binding site. The PhD student will work on the design and synthesis of large combinatorial libraries of macrocyclic compounds, development of high-throughput screening strategies, and identification/characterization of new kinase ligands. This is an interdisciplinary opportunity at the interface of chemistry , chemical biology , biochemistry , pharmaceutical sciences , and screening/automation methods, with collaboration and training across academic and industrial partners in the ANA-KIN network. Applicants should have a background in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field. Experience in peptide synthesis, molecular biology, high-throughput screening, or laboratory automation is welcome but not required. The position is fully funded . The post indicates a starting date in the first half of 2027 . Interested candidates should send a CV, a short motivation letter, and a list of references to [email protected] . More details are available via the linked PDF and short link.
