Postdoctoral Researcher / Project Lead in Technology Marketing and Virtual Reality

postdoctoral researcher / project lead
for a cross-border, interdisciplinary research project on
Virtual Reality
. The position is based at the
Chair of Technology Marketing
at ETH Zurich and is jointly hosted with the
Professorship of Marketing & Technology at TUM Campus Munich
. The project is funded through the
SNSF/DFG WEAVE scheme
and examines how people perceive
time and space in immersive virtual environments
.
This is a senior, leadership-oriented postdoctoral role for a researcher who wants to combine independent scholarship with scientific coordination and mentoring. The successful candidate will work closely with the principal investigators at ETH Zurich and TUM, help develop the research agenda, refine study designs, coordinate shared experiments, and co-author publications aimed at top international journals. The role also includes day-to-day scientific mentorship for two doctoral researchers and collaboration with international co-authors and industry partners.
The project sits at the intersection of
psychology, technology, and human-computer interaction
, with a strong emphasis on
VR research
. Applicants should ideally bring prior experience with virtual reality, particularly research related to perception, and be comfortable handling quantitative analyses and advanced experimental work. Familiarity with tools such as
Unity
,
Unreal
, or
eye tracking
is advantageous, though deep engineering expertise is not required.
Eligibility highlights include a completed or near-completed PhD in
human-computer interaction, psychology, quantitative marketing, information systems
, or a closely related field; strong publication potential; advanced quantitative skills in
R, Python, or Stata
; excellent English communication; and a collaborative, mentoring-oriented mindset. German is helpful but not mandatory.
The appointment is a
fixed-term postdoctoral position (100%)
with a planned duration of
three years
. Compensation follows
ETH Zurich / SNF postdoctoral salary scales
. The earliest starting date is
October 2026
