PhD opportunity in synthetic organic chemistry , catalysis , and medicinal chemistry at Wageningen University & Research (The Netherlands), in the Meeus Lab / Laboratory of Organic Chemistry. The project, titled New Synthetic Methods for Prodrug Activation , focuses on developing new (photo)catalytic reactions and synthetic methods to make precise modifications to drug scaffolds and activate prodrugs in a controlled way. The research combines method development , organic synthesis , and photochemistry , with the goal of expanding the synthetic toolbox for next-generation prodrugs and safer, more effective therapies. Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in synthetic chemistry , with demonstrated experience in synthetic organic chemistry and/or catalysis . Experience with photochemical techniques is desirable. Strong English communication skills, the ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team, and a commitment to high safety standards are expected. This is a 4-year PhD position .
