Biomedical image analysis
The Computer Vision and Pattern Discovery (CVPD) research group at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) is offering a fully funded 4-year PhD position as part of the TOSBI project, which focuses on scalable and generalized solutions in biomedical image analysis. The doctoral research will develop novel deep learning methodologies to address challenges such as data scarcity, scalability, and generalization in biomedical image analysis. The candidate will work on self-/semi-supervised learning, few/zero-shot frameworks, and the adaptation of foundation models to bioimage analysis, with applications in segmentation, classification, and detection of cellular and tissue structures. The project provides a highly interdisciplinary and international research environment, opportunities for collaboration and research stays abroad, access to cutting-edge infrastructure, and comprehensive training at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning, and biomedicine. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in a relevant field, have programming skills (Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow), and a good command of English. The position is fully funded, with a gross salary of 24,468.15 €/year, tuition reimbursement, research stay funding, and social security coverage. Applications open October 11, 2025, and close October 31, 2025. International candidates may apply via email if residing outside Spain; others must use the UPV/EHU portal. Required documents include transcripts, CV, passport copy, and signed declarations. Supervisors are Prof. Fadi Dornaika and Dr. Ignacio Arganda-Carreras.
