Postdoctoral Fellowship in Hearing Aids, Brain Function, and Cognitive Aging
Toronto Metropolitan University is recruiting a
postdoctoral fellow
for a two-year project in
hearing aids, brain function, and cognitive aging
at the SMART Lab in Toronto, Canada.
The study will follow older adults over two years and examine whether early hearing aid intervention can alter the trajectory of brain function and cognitive aging. The research uses a multimodal design including
fNIRS
,
EEG
, salivary cortisol, and behavioral, psychosocial, and cognitive measures.
Research themes include auditory neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, hearing technology, listening effort, speech-in-noise processing, emotional speech perception, neural recruitment, and neural inefficiency. The project is highly translational and involves collaboration with Toronto Metropolitan University, KITE–Toronto Rehabilitation Institute/University Health Network, the University of Ottawa, and Sonova Group.
Applicants are especially sought from
cognitive neuroscience
,
auditory science
,
psychology
,
biomedical engineering
, or related fields. Experience with fNIRS and/or EEG is considered valuable.
The position offers a salary of
$60,000–$70,000 CAD per year
and is scheduled to begin flexibly between
December 1, 2026 and May 1, 2027
