Fully Funded PhD Scholarship in Environmental Comfort, Climate Adaptation, and VR for Climate-Adaptive Design at QUT

Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia is recruiting PhD candidates for fully funded scholarship opportunities with a late 2026 / 2027 spring intake. The positions are being advertised by Kun Lyu , Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at QUT. The research team is looking for candidates to join two related projects in the broad areas of architecture , environmental science , building science , thermal comfort , environmental sensing , human-building interaction , and immersive technologies . Project 1: Multidomain environmental comfort and climate adaptation in semi-outdoor spaces, co-supervised with Prof. Veronica Garcia-Hansen, Dr. Sara Omrani, and Dr. Jing Xiong from the IEQ Lab at the University of Sydney. Project 2: Occupant-in-the-loop VR as a pre-occupancy evaluation tool for climate-adaptive design, co-supervised with Prof. Glenda Caldwell. These PhD opportunities are suitable for applicants with backgrounds in architecture, building science, environmental design, thermal comfort, environmental sensing, human-building interaction, immersive technologies, or related disciplines.
