PhD in Characterisation of Battery Electrolytes at KTH Royal Institute of Technology

PhD opportunity at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in characterisation of battery electrolytes , within the School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health. The project focuses on how mass transport in battery electrolytes affects charging/discharging speed and ageing, and aims to develop improved methods and models for complex multi-component electrolytes. The work combines experimental methods with molecular-level calculations to describe macroscopic electrolyte properties used in battery modelling . The project is carried out in close collaboration with companies, and COMSOL is mentioned as a partner. Third-cycle subject: Chemical engineering. Eligibility highlights: a second-cycle degree (such as a master's), or at least 240 higher education credits including 60 second-cycle credits, or equivalent knowledge; suitable background in chemical engineering, engineering physics, or equivalent; English proficiency equivalent to English B/6. Selection criteria: independence, teamwork, professional approach, and ability to analyze complex issues. Personal skills are emphasized. Funding/employment: doctoral student employment with monthly salary according to KTH’s doctoral student salary agreement. Full-time temporary position; initial appointment up to one year, renewable, with total doctoral employment normally up to four years.
