About this position

PhD opportunity at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in characterisation of battery electrolytes, within the School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health.

The project focuses on how mass transport in battery electrolytes affects charging/discharging speed and ageing, and aims to develop improved methods and models for complex multi-component electrolytes. The work combines experimental methods with molecular-level calculations to describe macroscopic electrolyte properties used in battery modelling. The project is carried out in close collaboration with companies, and COMSOL is mentioned as a partner.

Third-cycle subject: Chemical engineering.

Eligibility highlights: a second-cycle degree (such as a master's), or at least 240 higher education credits including 60 second-cycle credits, or equivalent knowledge; suitable background in chemical engineering, engineering physics, or equivalent; English proficiency equivalent to English B/6.

Selection criteria: independence, teamwork, professional approach, and ability to analyze complex issues. Personal skills are emphasized.

Funding/employment: doctoral student employment with monthly salary according to KTH’s doctoral student salary agreement. Full-time temporary position; initial appointment up to one year, renewable, with total doctoral employment normally up to four years.
