Funded PhD opportunity at Adelaide University on Shaping Markets for Inclusive Green Energy Transitions (project code: SRTSR0094 ). The project sits at the intersection of market shaping , sustainability transitions , energy markets , strategy , and marketing . It asks how markets can be shaped so that green energy transitions are not only rapid and durable, but also inclusive. The South Australian context offers a rich empirical setting, with rooftop solar, grid-scale batteries, virtual power plants, distributed energy resources, EVs, household batteries, and ongoing market reform. Possible research directions include: how South Australia’s energy transition has been shaped over time; emerging market-shaping dynamics around distributed energy, batteries, EVs, and market reform; and energy equity, including the position of renters, apartment dwellers, social housing tenants, and lower-income households. The project is grounded in market-shaping theory and informed by research on market work and sustainability transitions. It will be a PhD by publications and has strong links to policy and practice, including involvement from the SA Department for Energy and Mining and co-supervision by Gediminas Lipnickas . Funding: 2027 stipend of AUD $37,800 per year (indexed annually), 3.5 years funding , and a 4-year fee waiver . Open to domestic and international applicants .
