Postdoctoral Scholar in Drug Discovery, Synthetic/Medicinal Chemistry or Chemical Biology

Michigan State University’s Lee Laboratory is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scholar in drug discovery , with a focus on synthetic chemistry , medicinal chemistry , or chemical biology . The role sits within a multidisciplinary translational drug discovery team working on three programs related to neurological disorders , metabolic disorders , and a rare genetic neurodegenerative disease . The scholar will design and synthesize novel small molecules and gain hands-on training across the drug discovery pipeline, including SAR , lead optimization , high-throughput screening , in vitro ADME/drug metabolism , pharmacokinetics , PK modeling , target engagement , and in vivo pharmacology . The post is especially suitable for a talented recent PhD who wants to broaden beyond synthetic chemistry and develop into a well-rounded drug discovery scientist. Applicants should have a strong foundation in synthetic or medicinal chemistry and be eager to learn, receptive to feedback, collaborative, and able to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment. Prior experience in the broader drug discovery workflow is not required. Funding is provided through the MSU Research Foundation Postdoctoral Scholar Program .
