About this position

Michigan State University’s Lee Laboratory is recruiting a Postdoctoral Scholar in drug discovery, with a focus on synthetic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or chemical biology. The role sits within a multidisciplinary translational drug discovery team working on three programs related to neurological disorders, metabolic disorders, and a rare genetic neurodegenerative disease.

The scholar will design and synthesize novel small molecules and gain hands-on training across the drug discovery pipeline, including SAR, lead optimization, high-throughput screening, in vitro ADME/drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, PK modeling, target engagement, and in vivo pharmacology. The post is especially suitable for a talented recent PhD who wants to broaden beyond synthetic chemistry and develop into a well-rounded drug discovery scientist.

Applicants should have a strong foundation in synthetic or medicinal chemistry and be eager to learn, receptive to feedback, collaborative, and able to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment. Prior experience in the broader drug discovery workflow is not required.

Funding is provided through the MSU Research Foundation Postdoctoral Scholar Program. The appointment is one year, fixed term, with possible renewal depending on performance and funding availability.
