Postdoc opening in Climate Adaptation using Computational Social Science methods at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, Germany . The project asks a timely question: how can we tell whether cities are actually implementing the climate adaptation measures they promise? The research will combine NLP , machine learning , and data mining to analyse urban climate adaptation plans, monitoring reports, and public procurement records, with the aim of tracking adaptation progress and identifying gaps between policy commitments and real-world action. This is a 2-year postdoctoral position with the possibility of a 1-year extension . The post is especially relevant for candidates with backgrounds in geography , computational social science , digital humanities , or related fields, and for those interested in environmental policy , urban sustainability , and climate governance. Eligibility highlights include a PhD in a relevant field (or an almost finished PhD), strong quantitative and programming skills, and experience with NLP, machine learning, text mining, or similar computational methods.
